101. Patient to judge.

Sam Matthews. K

God is not hasty to judge because he is slow to anger but nevertheless, it is sure to come! He patiently waits before he executes judgement, hoping that many more will be saved but ironically, that doesn't seem to be the outcome! 'God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all were saved ...' (1 Peter 3:20) He waited till the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah reached the heavens, before he judged them but only Lot and his two daughters escaped! (Genesis 18:20) God waits for the sin of the nations to reach their 'full measure' before executing judgement. ( Genesis 15:16) 'The sins of some men are obvious, reaching the place of judgement ahead of them: the sins of others trail behind them.' (1 Timothy 5:24) However, God is patiently waiting before he judges the world, until their 'sins are piled upto heaven.' (Revelation 18:5) Ofcourse, 'where sin increased, grace increased all the more.' (Romans 5:20) Nevertheless, judgement is sure to come, though it delays! The prophet Habbakuk complained to God about using the Babylonians to judge Israel but God said judgement will overtake the Babylonians too and asked him to write down the revelation about the destruction of Babylon. 'Write down the revelation and make it plain ... For the revelation awaits an appointment time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; he will certainly come and not delay.' Habbakuk in response, said, "I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us.'( Habbakuk 2:2-3, 3:16) 'Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time, wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.' ( 1 Corinthians 4:5) Amen.
