53. Be sanctified for others.

"For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified."(John 17:19) Not that he was not yet consecrated to God, for he was set apart even before the creation of the world. 'He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times.'(1 Peter 1:20) Again he was consecrated at his birth, when he was taken to Jerusalem to present him before the Lord as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every first born male is to be consecrated to the Lord." (Luke 2:22-23) And yet again, he consecrated himself before his death, for the purpose for which he was chosen and born; that is to be the Saviour of the world! Are we so purpose driven in our lives? Do we know what our mission on earth is? If so, we need to sanctify ourselves over and over again, until we accomplish the task. Let's make your assignment on earth, our only passion, as Paul himself said: "I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the Gospel of God's grace."(Acts 20:24) In doing so, we infact do justice to those who listen to us, because they too will be truly sanctified. 'Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourselves and your hearers.'(1 Timothy 4:16) Amen.
