"Seek and you will find ... For everyone who seeks finds." - (Matthew 7:7-8) Since God wants all men to seek him, he has assured us that we will definitely find him if we earnestly seek him! "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." - (Jeremiah 29:13) But many who seek have not found the One true God because they do not seek to find the truth. Our quest (long or arduous search) must be to find the truth; the whole truth; nothing but the truth! Truth is always singular in its existence and never plural because there is only one truth and those who honestly seek will invariably find this truth because its hidden in plain sight! 'For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.' - (Romans 1:20)
We also can seek and find God's will for our lives when the truth begins to renew our minds. 'Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.' - (Romans 12:2) Just because something seems "good" and "pleasing", it need not necessarily be the "perfect" will of God. 'When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was "good" for food and "pleasing" to the eye ... she took some and ate it' - (Genesis 3:6) which resulted in fall of man. Too often we make our choices based on what we see or perceive as "good" and "pleasing" and then get into trouble as Lot did! 'Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the Lord ... So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan ... and pitched his tents near Sodom' not knowing that 'the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord' -(Genesis 13: 10-13) and had to flee for his life! The "perfect" will of God might not seem "good" and "pleasing" to us now but it will surely turn out to be!
Moreover, we can seek and find the truth about everything that matters to us. "There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed or hidden that will not be made known" - (Matthew 10: 26) because "nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.' - (Hebrews 4:13) The Holy Spirit who 'guides us into all truth' - (John 16:13), will give us the 'word of knowledge' about the situation and the 'discernment of the spirits' behind it - (1 Corinthians 12:8-10), so that 'Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.' - (2 Corinthians 2: 11) Joshua was deceived by the Gibeonites (Joshua 9) because he didn't seek to find the truth about the matter but leaned on his own understanding! 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.' - (Jeremiah 33:3) Amen.
