In every civilised society, it's upto the courts of law and the judges to pronounce judgements against the wrongdoers and the citizens ought to leave room for the judiciary to administer justice instead of taking the law into their own hands. Infact the judicial system of many nations are founded on the Judeo-Christian principles which advocates fairness to all, meaning a punishment befitting the crime. But often human judges fail to maintain fairness but God will administer true justice since his judgements are true and just! The Bible therefore exhorts us to trust God and leave room for God's wrath. 'Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. It it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on their head. Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.'(Romans 12:17-21/ Deuteronomy 32:35) Does that mean that God is not concerned about the injustice done to us? No! But in doing good, we give our enemies a chance to repent. But if they don't repent, then he 'does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children to the third and fourth generation.' (Exodus 32:7) He has forgiven all wickedness, rebellion and sin through the atoning sacrifice of Christ but those who dishonour his blood, will find themselves terrified by his wrath (Hebrews 10:29-31) because there is no sacrifice left to turn aside God's wrath! 'He who avenges blood remembers' ( Psalm 9:12) and will avenge the shed blood of Christ and of his saints. The woman, Babylon the great, the mother of all prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth; the power that corrupts the earth and kills the saints, 'was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus' (Revelation 17:6) and 'in her was found the blood of prophets and of the saints and of all who have been killed on earth.'(Revelation 18:24) But 'God remembered her crimes and paid her back double for what she has done' (Revelation 18:6) and 'has avenged on her the blood of his servants.'(Revelation 19:2) 'The Lord is jealous and avenging God; the Lord takes vengeance and is filled with wrath ... The Lord is slow to anger and great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.'(Nahum 1:2) Amen.
